the latest version of the K700 whitepaper says "Multislot class 10 supported (4+2)
I'm not sure of any phones with class 12 though I have read that the "Sierra Wireless Aircard 750 GSM/GPRS PC Card" supports it.
I guess the only use for class 12 is if you need higher upstream speeds

So,there is hardly any phone with class 12 gprs?
how much speed you practically get from class 12 ,ie upload, download data rate.

Well, class 10 provides
1 up, 4 down which is 8-12Kbps send, 32-48Kbps receive
2 up, 3 down which is 16-24kbps send, 24-36kbps receive
whereas class 12 provides those plus
3 up, 2 down which is 24-36kbps send, 16-24kbps receive
4 up, 1 down which is 32-48kbps send, 8-12kbps receive
so unless you are sending alot of stuff from the phone there is probably not alot of use for class 12 but would be more use for a card you plug into a pc but its totally network dependant as well as being available in the phone

Motorola MPx220 will probably have Class 12 in 4+4 configuration.

while technically class 12 can be 4 slots up and 4 down, the maximum number of active slots at any time is only 5 so the phone cannot, as I understand it, make full use of the 4+4 performance

Can't agree masseur, it's a bit annoying, when I can't send bigger emails or something because of upload speed

So are you trying to say that class 12 is not much better in practice than class 10 or even class 5?
do someone know what class of gprs can a typical gprs mobile network can offer?

It seems that only upload will be faster. :-) speed of data depends also on coding scheme. EDGE is a halfstep to 3G nets...

Why cant we get/achieve the theoretical speed in gprs/edge?
What prevents it?

T610 has class 8 4+1, yes we have EDGE in Slovakia. Speed is influenced by many factors. Coding, security, people on-line...
