Hi,

I just got a new T68i, and want to charge it properly in order to maximize battery performance.

The manual says that I should charge it for 4 hours the first time. However, when speaking to people at the service points, some say that you should charge it:

15 hours the first time
then drain the battery completely (over a couple of days)
repeat this three times

Some also say that, during the first charging, after a few hours when the phone is no longer charging (green LED), that you should disconnect the charging cable and put it back in again in order to charge it a bit more.

What is true in all this?

Anyone working at a service points (or similarly) who really knows?

I know the truth because I know some people from "telecomworld":

If you have a new T68m or T68i you have to do this:

1) Loading the battery for 10-12 hours.

2) Then use the phone till the batery gives a signal that you
have to load your battery.

3) Repeat nr. 2 3-4 times.

Then your battery will work perfectly....

My first charge was just until it stopped charging. Then everytime since (well nearly) i've let it totally run down to saying 0h standby time left then just charged it to full again. Works fine for me get 3-5 days usage depending on how many calls i make.

The lengthy 12-16 hour first charging is but a myth, an urban legend:

Li-Ion chargers STOP charging when the battery is full. They DON'T do trickle charge. Li-Ion batteries get easily damaged by overcharge.

Therefore, charging it longer than is indicated by the phone is just a waste of time.
