Stuck with R1S001 on a T610 |

I just got a T610 off Amazon, and it came with the R1S001 firmware. It's come to my attention that much newer firmware exists. However, when I called Sony Ericsson (the phone should still be under warranty) they told me that it would cost $37 to upgrade, and that I shouldn't believe that there is a newer firmware available.
What I wanted to know was what's changed in the firmware since R1S001, and where the best place (near Pittsburgh) to get an upgrade would be. |

dalangalma, I just sent my phone (had R1S001) off to SE service center and it came back *exactly* the same, but with a letter saying it had been 'fixed' - still has R1S001. Even though I expressly told the guy on the phone I wanted a firmware upgrade and that I have loads of symptoms (crashes all the time, slow java, etc) associated with the old software. Grrrr this stinks - I am going to have to go to some dodgy shop and get it done anyhow - so much for having a warantee!
The phone is 3 months old, bought on T-Mobile US, I am in NY but apparently there is only 1 SE service center in the whole US! |
