I've finally given up on Nokias, and invested in a nice shiny new S-E T630.

It's all recharged and ready to go... HOwever it's asking me for my SIM PIN. I've never set one up, and have no idea what the default code is. I tried the O2 helpline for 20 minutes trying to get through, then at 9pm they put the answer phone on! Grr.

I wanna use my phone! (especially as my other half has the T610 and I want to have the better, newer phone for once )

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how have you remedied it?

O2 do not advertise their default SIM - it's not on their website or in any manuals! I've been through all the bumpf I've had with each of my handsets and can find nothing

I've tried 5555 and 1111. Will have to wait until the customer service line opens tomorrow morning I guess.

I should have trusted my gut feeling and ditched O2 for another service provider. O2's coverage is fantastic. Their customer services seem to be ran by chimps

Thanks for your help though guys - I appreciate it.

you don't have to cry about it and say o2 is shit cuz the guy did not tell you the code you should learn to chill out a bit.

I've been with O2 (inc. genie before that) for 4 year, so I feel I am well versed in being able to say that there customer services and customer care or terrible. It's a pity that they have such good coverage in my area. e;se I would have left them in an instant.

If they could adress their customer relations issues then they would be a bloody good service provider.

So why don't you chill

Ps I'm an online customer, not a shop customer - they are ran as two separate companies with no overlap....

As one thing on m essage boards that annoys me is people making sweeping comments about things with out backing them up, here is why O2 could do much better in my books:

To date they have:

given my mobile phone number to a debt collection agent as the contact for another person with the same name as me. The debt was for £1120!! Luckily, when I asked what address I lived at and they rattled off some address up North, I realised what was going on - the debt collection agency wouldn't take no for an answer though! They even tried to get me to give them my current address - luckily my other half is a lawyer and told me not to because all the debt collection agency would do is update the address to mine, making the debt mine! B@st@rds!

Offered me their everyday 50 contract for a reduced price to get my off my bargainous BT Genie one. As soon as they did - surprise, surprise they charged me full whack - an extra £10 a month for a reduced service.

Are constantly rude to the point of being insulting when you try to settle any problems in a reasonable manner

Tried to charge me £30 for a free hand set up grade! i wonder how much money they have made in this manner?

To be fair, I have been into an O2 store before as I was getting no where with the online mob. They told me it wasn't their problem...

I'm just over excited to get my phone after waiting an age and am disapointed not to be able to use it

I just think it's a great shame as if they could sort out their customer services (and if you happen to work in that area, it might be worth taking some comments on board, as my gripes seem to be echoed by many) then they would have the best service I've ever used. Certainly better coverage than I experienced with Orange, Vodafone or my brief dalliance with 'one-2-no one'!

To go even further of topic, BT genie used to have a facility where you could chat online live to a customer service rep. Fantastic idea and an easy way to get things solved. It was taken off line when they became O2, presumably for security or cost reasons. A real shame really, as a company that operates online should be at the fore front on on line technology. It seems that they don't even have a decent server as quite often, and before you've given any identifying information you are greeted with 'Can you call back in a few hours please, our computers are down'. Sad really....
