I am trying to unlock my AT&T T68 to use my VoiceStream SIM card. I hear the SIM lock is an algorithm based on the IMEI number...or something like that!?!?

Any ideas?

This one comes up a lot. I still haven't found anything or anyone that can do this.

Maybe contact the phone conpany that the phone is locked to, See if they can unlock it. They may charge you though.

how would you know if your phone is locked or not?... is this by only trying a different SIM card? Is there any other option to find out if your phone is locked or not? I signed up with Voicestream on Feb. however, they don't carry t68 yet but they allow t68 phone to use their provider. My dealer bought my phone separately in chinatown and he signed me up to voicestream for one year...Do you guys think when i signed up with voicestream it will automatically lock my t68 phone? i need your opinion guys...thanks!

you should be able to determine is your phone locked to voicestream or not by

1. price (they wouldnt sell any unlocked phone for under 400 dollar)
2. >*<<*<* and then SIM Look (everything should be unlocked for the unlocked phone)

Mine shows all unlocked with the number 5 next to each. What does that mean? Is my phone unlocked?

If you buy your phone as a standalone, it will be unlocked. And no, a provider cannot lock your phone by using their SIM card.
The lock is there so you don't get the phone cheap from one provider, then use it with another. By buying it standalone, you avoid the whole issue.
