After atending the game in Brisbane last night, i was happy to see that the aussies demolished the poms. But this wasnt there first major lose, All Blacks anyone? The theme of this topic, watching some chaps get all controversial in defence of there team? no. Just thoght id make a rugby topic with all these Euro 2004 ones atm. Post what you want!

I never really understood why you Australians call the English 'poms'

Something sexual ?

Must feel good huh, except you still didnt win the World Cup.

Why are people so cocky every time they beat the English/British?

It's not as if it's exactly hard at the moment in any sport!!

I reckon the english are just tired. They've lost lots of good players (Johnson, Wilkinson, Robinson), they've played 18 matches this season (a ludicrous amoung by international standards) and they spent lots of last year training for the world cup (which paid off, didn't it!)

But yeah, well done australia i guess. I heard the match and it was pretty one sided, so you probably deserved that win, but the fact remains, we are the world champions, we beat you when it counted. Can't wait for the next world cup, in france, so i can go and watch the whole thing. Should be brilliant.

yeah it will. Its a shame that great event like the world cup (and olympics and Euro) are soo far apart. A bit of anticipation is great, but 4 years is too much

Hosting a major tournament every year would be too draining on everyone involved.

i think once a year would be too often, and it would lose it's sense of uniqueness. You'd either get most teams winning world cups on their good years, or teams like All Blacks, Aussies, Springboks, hopefully england and possible Ireland every now and then having a ton or world cups, and they'd be nothing to boast about.

I'm fairly happy with it as it is, after all the world cup is the year i leave school, and it's just next door (some matches even being played in the UK), so i can go and watch it, and i'm sure either All Blacks or British will get to the final, so either way it'll be a spectacle for me.
