Help! I Can't connect my Laptops IR to my T610, what is wrong? |

Basically, I want to send some files from my laptop to my T610 via infrared.
My laptop has the infrared built into it, but I am struggling to gain a connection between my laptop and phone. Can any one give me any advice on what I am doing?
Thanks

To make the connection work you need to make 2 things work.
1. the laptop IR needs to be turned on.
2. the IR port of the phone needs to line up really good with the IR port on the labtop. 2..3 cm apart worked for me.

I still can't get it to work.
I have both Infrared devices turned on (phone and laptop) and have gone over every possible place where the IR could be, but still nothing happens.
I have the 'Fast Infrared Port', whatever that means! Still no luck, can any one give me some inspiration?

go into your laptop/ settings/ control panel/
click on wireless link and check the following boxes.
In the file transfer tab:
Display an icon on the taskbar to indicate IR activity.
Allow others to send files to your computer using IR.
Display status while receiving files.
Image transfer tab.
Use wireless link to transfer images from a digital camera to your computer.
Hardware tab.
Check device status.
If that does not work. what are the symptoms?

All those settings are as you said, but I have noticed that there is no icon in the task bar, even though the box is checked. This is in Device Properties
Manufacturer: National Semiconductor
Location: on Generic Bus
Device Status: This device is working properly.

You should consider having faulty ir leds on either your phone or your laptop. Check with other devices and phones. Also in to your aims and check viet the baud rate for the ir post is at the lowest setting. Maybe the mobile does not support fast data rate.

I've had all settings ok and my notebook irda didn't work - no recognition of devices. I did everything possible to work it out. Changed all settings, tried all distances... Nothing helped. No wireless link. But I've heard that WinXP has problem with in build irda. Only thing that helped, was complete reinstallation of ir device. Try it!
