hey all,
i finally figured out a way to convert any sound into a rintone for my z600 and thought i'd share this with you - hope this hasnt been done yet - but i could never find this in my previous searches - so maybe this helps - also i hope this post doesnt show up twice now, cuz i guess i just accidently deleted my old one.
here it goes:
1. you need to create a MMS with the Sonyericsson MMS studsio ( came with the phone software or you can download it from their page)
2. in the sound recorder load any sound form your hard drive (source = sound card - setting: record what you hear or MP'3) and record and add the sound to the message - the recorder automatically converts it.
3. send thah message to your phone through cable, BT/IR
4. now its is saved on your phone as a MMs template
5. send that template to your phone
6. save the sound and it will be stored in your sound folder as a midi that you can use as a ringtone
If anybody has and idea to go save the sound without actually sending a message to your own phone i would appreciate it, since i dont have an idea how else i can save it.
also the quality is not alway the greatest but ok - i guess some experimenting while recording would help to increase it.
hope this helps

well i have just discovered that the sounds are saved in the sound folder as files, but you dont get the options to use them as a ringtone - maybe someone knows a tricks for that?
will try a few things later - but have to work now. |

They probably are stored as .amr which is the format for recordings . Those are not available for use as ringtones.

You dont have to use MMS Studio,if your using XP and an irda adapter then just hold your phone to the irda adapter and windows xp will automatically detect and give you the option to send what you want and it will save the ringtone etc to the correct folder.
