In as pressrelease earlier today Neonode announced that their phone N1 is about to be shipped to those who has preordered it from their website.

Mobil.se is writing about it: http://premium.mobil.se/nyheter/visa.asp?id=8286&sid=1 (in swedish)

Translation....

During wednesday afternoon Neonode sent out a pressrelease about N1. Mobil contacted Neonode to find out how to take it.

N1 is finished now?

Both yes and no, says Jonas Löfgren, marketing director on Neonode.

Then he says that it's all finished but what's left is a few updates which will include some new features.

When will a completely finished version of Neonode be available?
-We will release N1, or we have already released it says Löfgren.

When did you ship the first units?

-I don't want to be more specific on when they are shipped.

When will the first customers get their phones?

Within 10 days from they have ordered it.

When Mobil yet again asked if they really had shipped any units he answers: - I don't know if they have been shipped.

He says that he earlier meant that a number of people have ordered and paid for N1 in their webshop, but he doesn't know if these orders have been shipped yet. He doesn't want to say how many buyers it is.

At Mobil we want to try a N1 as soon as they are released. This is also common among manufacturers to have test units available for media. But this will not be done by Neonode.

- We have taken a policy decision not to ship any units says Löfgren.

The reason for this is for example the upgrades we will release says Löfgren.

Which features that will come in the upgrades is something he first doesn't want to talk about. He says that the technical solution they have makes it possible to add features later on that doesn't even have been thought of today. But he admit that, before the upgrades, N1 will not have WAP, GPRS or MMS.

Accordning to the specification on Neonode website these features will be available later in upgrades; MMS, WAP, GPRS, email, IR-software, HTML browser, Active Sync and the possibilty to use themes. Java will not even be available after the upgrades. It will have no vibrator or bluetooth, and the battery will be built and not possible to change.

It sounds like crap to me. Way to unserious this guy. Wtf? NO mms, wap and gprs?? And he is planning to earn money on this product? What a killer phone. My guess will be that no one would ever see this piece of junk. Just my sarcastic cents of today.

As i see the quality of the displays should be better in the next future. I mentioned to have a tiny scratch aswell, even i do really take care of my fones. Still dont know how i managed it. Brands an operators do prefer to change the housing instead of using such equipments like displex.

Sorry for my former post. Anyway, that fone is a must to have for me. Hope they will launch it with the since years promised condition and features, even with some later upgrades. Who cares?

my opinion about N1.... it's way to expensive for what you get... and way too old... two years ago it could have been a great phone... hello!?!?!? earth calling Neonode! it's year 2004 not 2002

@cytech i dont think that the date is what counts. If it is i buy /// fones even today, cos the features serve me well and happy to compare them with other brands fones from the same time. N1 is late out and i get your point about it. I wish to have one hoping to fit my needs, so i buy them with the same missing features even in 10 years.

If it has been released, then someone must have tested it. Anyone in this forum?

It should also have been a lot of new pictures of the phone released but i haven't found any.
