Whenever I put .jad files on tripod they end up with the html at the bottom that tripod puts on your web pages for their adverts. This doesn't seem to happen with jar files which is okay for phones that don't need the jad file. However, if the phone needs the jad file it won't work. Is there anything that you can do to stop this happening?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I dont think the tripod server is faimlar with jad files. Thats probably because it adds ad to it. I will recommend my own website now tho...

Place the jar file on tripod and change in the jar file so it points to the jar file. Now goto http://www.mobilesheaven.com and register. Log in and use the Up/Down. It allows you to store 10 files in 24 hours on our website at a maximum size of 500kb and access the files through the wap-portal. We accept this file types:
.jpg, .gif, .bmp, .jar, .jad, .thm, .mpn, .mid, .mmf, .wav, .mpg, .avi, .sis, .adp, .prc, .3gp, .mp3

Now goto wap.mobilesheaven.com and select "english" and then select "Up/Down". Now enter the id number for the jad file you have uploaded and your password and click download...

Tell me if it works... it should... I don't know how your phone will act if it wants the correct mime-types for the jar (I dont think tripod sends correct for those either).

AddType application/vnd.wap.sic sic
AddType text/vnd.wap.si si
AddType text/vnd.wap.sl sl
AddType application/vnd.wap.slc slc
AddType text/x-vCalendar vcs
AddType text/v-vCard vcf

Save it as .htaccess.txt

Then upload it into the htdoc directory on tri-pod and rename it .htaccess
This will tell the server how to handle each file type.

Ive tried putting the .htaccess file up but it won't let the file have a name that begins with a '.' . Also, just in case im doing it wrong, which is the htdoc directory.

That would be the root of your server, in this case this is your account root. If Tripod support .htaccess files then my suggestions is a long way around But ask Tripod support if you are not sure.

Hi,

Apart from what Mr. FredrikMH had suggested, I would like to invite you to check out our PC->Mobile system http://wapex.info

You don't need to register, just upload your files and get a WAP link immediately. If you need support for extra file types, e-mail us and we will fix the problem.

Good luck! [addsig]
