Sunpower's solar assisted cell-phone batteries available for a variety of Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, and Nextel-branded phones. You won't be making phone calls with our star's light alone, but on a sunny day the Sunpower batteries can manage to add about 15 minutes of talk time to your battery for every hour they spend charging. Depending on how actively you use your phone (and what part of Arizona you live in), your phone might not have to hit the charger at all. Prices run from about $40 to $60 per battery via their website.

I am for the fusion, as @jim. Its the only way for me. Nuclear energy is the cleanest and most effective.

I can see it being useful when out and about and not near any power sockets, car chargers, PCs, etc., but they sound a bit expensive for what they are. I also wonder how well they'll work in the usually cloudy and wet UK & Northern Europe.
Kinetic ones - does this mean you'll be on the phone, you're battery starts to go, so you say to the person on the other end: "hold on a moment mate - just got to charge my battery" Then the other person hears a manic shaking noise as you make rude-looking gestures shaking the phone up and down so it charges.......

Well sammy not quite in that manner but a slight movement or shake of the body will constantly add to the power if the phone is in use or not...Like there are Seiko watches available now which run forever on kinetic energy..with very slight movements needed to keep it running..im sure somone can adapt that technology into phones somehow.

Saying that my phone stays most it's active life in my pocket a sun powered phone battery would be useless.
Unless someone could manufacture a mobile phone holder hat?
How about one of those wind up gadgets to charge your phone that way?
