There were protests over cellular phone antennas planned for the Black Mountain campus.
Dozens of parents kept their children out of Black Mountain Middle School and Sunset Hills Elementary School tuesday morning protesting over the plans.
About 65 parents carrying signes that said Don’t cell out our children,” and “Just say not to cell towers” were in protest in front of the 2 schools in Rancho Penasquitos to protest new agreements recently reached by the district and cellular phone companies.
"The agreements, which are still going through the city’s approval process, would allow wireless phone companies to install two additional antenna towers on the edge of the Black Mountain playing fields. An existing tower disguised as a faux palm tree was erected in 2002."
