I have a SE T610 with T-Mobile, purchased in Oct, '03.
The f/w version I see at the top of the screen is R1S001. That is followed by an LCD version, Camera version, 2 Customization versions (CDAxxxxx... R25A), and a ITP version of R1B005. Which of these do I need to look at?

Also, I am still under 1-year T-Mobile warranty, so I signed up online to have a new exchange phone sent to me direct, hoping the f/w would be close to current. I received it today, and the f/w version of the new phone is the same (R1S001). Am I looking at the right version on the Software Info screen?

Yes it is the first part you look at,R1S001 is the fw of your current phone. The latest FW is R6C005

It has been discussed many times.

Also start with a read of this FAQ for anything else.

Under warranty you will get a free fw upgrade.

Thanks Lynx69.
I went to the T-Mobile store (official/unofficial?) and they told me the only way to upgrade your phone was the exchange method I mentioned in earlier post. But, when it came in the mail today, all f/w versions are nearly identical, and the main one (at the top of screen) is as mentioned, "R1S001". So, it seems that this latest phone exchange was just a waste of time.

Lol yeah. To get it updated go to your closest service centre and ask for a firmware upgrade. If they ask Why, say your phone keeps slowing down and freezing. The update should be free under warranty.

Thanks.
I will try that in a couple weeks when I am down in L.A. I think there is a service center/point down there somewhere.
