Can I use the Sony Ericsson T630 in the US? |

Hello,
I live in Bermuda and just purchased an unlocked T630 online with a company in California called SFMOBILE that I intend to get a GSM service contract for in Bermuda (a local provider). Then I was surfing the Internet and noticed that the T630 is a model for eastern countries and the US version is actually the T637. Does it matter that I bought the T630 instead of the T637 (US)?
I previously had a GSM Samsumg v205 that I bought in Chicago and signed a service contract in Bermuda, but I could use it in the US as well. I just want to make sure that I have not goofed up and bought the wrong sony ericsson phone since I will be in the US and Caribbean quite a bit for business, but based in Bermuda.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

The US uses 2 bands (1900 mhz / 850 mhz). The T630 is a tri-band phone that includes one US band (1900 mhz) and the T637 is a tri-band phone that includes both US bands. You should be ok in some parts of the US but just know that in certain areas, you may not have coverage due to 850mhz network only... |

I just looked at my manual for my last phone - Samsung v205 and it states a GSM 900/1800/1900 band selection, so I should be okay since the T630 has the same. You are right, the T637 has 850/1800/1900. Now I also understand why I wasn't getting service in some parts of the US before. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction for my answer.

Sony Ericsson (SE) T630 uses the 1900 MHz, 1 Watt American GSM network (and other European GSM network) like with T-Mobile.
SE T637 uses the 1900 MHz, 1 Watt and the 850 MHzm 2 Watt American GSM networks like with Cingular and AT&T Wireless, the latter seems to be serving the Bermuda islands.
You can use the T630 with AT&T Wireless, but only in the 1900 band, not the 850 band which is way more powerful in most parts of the US.
It looks like the SE T637 will be out within the next few days.

I didn't. I can't remember the last time I bought a phone. I work for Cingular and am a good friend of one of the marketing managers. |

Your only real choice is T-mobile. T630 is 900/1800/1900 and t-mobile uses 900/1800/1900.
