@zucchini
you don't have to worry about battery maintenance so much. I used a T28 and a T39 before my current T68 and I just charge the battery as opportunity arises. In 2 years the batteries never showed any sign of "memory" effect.
It is recommended though to fully empty the battery once a month.

@Zucchini
What kind of battery do you have ?? On my T68, at full charge, I have more than 340 hours of standby...!! (indicated by the phone itself...)

I know that for the first phones of 520 and T39 they needed to be upgraded by your supplier to show the right battery status. Try to contact your Ericsson Service Point.

I just checked my battery display: 298 hours standby left. Add 5 hours since I took it out of the docking station.
I switched off all Bluetooth, IrDA and GRPS options. I also switched off cell-info.
This way you get the promised 300 hrs standby. By far enough for me.
My old T28 had about 70 hrs. Even there I had no real need for more standby. The chargers are extremely light and small, so no problem to take them with you on a trip.

I remember, that after the first two or three charges the standby-time was slightly lower than 300hrs. Also if you change the settings, this won't show up immediately in the display. Maybe the firmware is using some statistics which is going back some hours. So don't get nervous if the changes don't show any immediate effect.
By the way: standby time means exactly that time where the phone is not touched in any way! No checking for SMS, no lookups in the phonebook, no games! So if you charge the phone, do not touch it for 4 hours and then have a look for the standby time. Not very practical, I know.

battery-standby : 355 hours.

AND i use GPRS (bluetooth is set to automatic)

GPRS should actually cut sme 30% off battery-times,..seems to do the opposite for me

HI guys,

I have one Ultra slim battery BUS-10 3.6 V 500 MAH used on T39 but it can only last up to 18 hours. I have visited this homepage "http://www2.sonyericssonmobile.com/T39/" under "accessories" you can see the actual battery for T39. The T39's battery should be BUS-11 instead of BUS 10. So, I wonder if BUS-11 battery can last longer. Can you guys update me if you are using this Ultra slim battery BUS-11?. Thanks

The BUS-10 (500mAh) battery is for the older Ericsson R320 while the original battery for the T39 is BUS-11 (600mAh). The BUS-10 fits into and can be used with the T39 but the talk- and standbytime is lower than the original.

Have you bought a second hand T39?
