How come the SMSes that I've already read don't automatically delete (first in first out)?

My previous Ericssons had this autodelete feature...

I don't know about the auto delete, but I know that the t39 does'nt have such a feature.

Let me quote from the T20 manual:

Incoming messages are saved in the phone memory. The phone memory can hold up to 10 messages. When the phone memory is full, the oldest read message is deleted when a new message is received.
If the phone memory becomes full of unread messages, new messages are automatically saved on the SIM card. Messages that are saved on the SIM card remain there until you delete them.

This is actually a very nice feature, I wonder why Ericsson didn't implement it on the T39...

same with my t39. what version of SW you have? mine is kinda old, so i was hoping that the upgrade could fix this. i used to have t28 before and this feature was present there. on this one, though, not only it does not delete them automatically, you also have to delete them ONE BY ONE, since there is no "delete all" option...

With my R4A008 there's a 'delete all' option for each SMS box (deletes only SMS in phone memory). Not so bad really but the FIFO auto-delete is very nifty, saves on housekeeping work, I'm lazy.
