shawnmccall9: Have you tried telling them that you plan on taking your phone out of the country? If you dont have a multi-band phone, you can tell them youre going to Canada. Good to know that we should stay away from ATT, if they treat their customers like "hostages."

hello,
it is not surprising that a cellphone company will refuse to unlock your phone. yes it may look like "hostaging" you phone.... to remain theirs until hell-dont-know-when. of course, we have a monthly billing plan to fulfill, and we all know that our phones are line-blocked to them before we purchased the phones, right? and we know well what the companies' capabilities, weaknesses, and limits are. we all agreed on that before you paid for your phone. so we are not in a good positon to complain.
but of course we also have a need to change lines sometimes. so, here in our country we have the so-called open-line cellphones. we purchase the phones separately from a phone company (unit only). and have our phone line purchased separately from the cellphone line provider. so it goes like this: if you want an open T68, we buy cellphones with warranties from cellphone companies (like sony-ericsson). and then we go to the cellphone line providers (like Globe Handyphone, or Touch mobile Phones, etc, here in our country.) and insert the SIM card into the phone, and there you go.
that way everything still works the way everybody like it, and you are also satisfied. all these transactions are legal, warrantied, and doesn't infringed on any agreement. if you want to change line for a certain area.... just do so by changing the SIM card. and the phone is still under the warranty. even the line too! no violations there.

ya'll are right on, here GSM is really jsut starting to take off althought it has been around for 6 years or more. I had never had a phone that used a SIM and didn't realize what I was getting into. I've definatley learned about unlocked and locked phones. ALso, some coutnries allow the consumer to take the phone number, here the service provider owns the number...sucks

Hi
In Europe and Asia there are different ways too unlock your phones....
-Ask your provider for the codes, they should give the codes free after e certain time. In Holland after 1 year, but in Germany after 2 years...This is the cheapest way, but takes the longest, and usally the providers will take care that " unlock request forms" are not in stock anymore, or make difficulties because you dont have the original bill anymore.
-"Phreak - Hack - Crack" your phone self. This could be a tricky buisiness. Cause this could f * uk the phone. Ive had ALOT phones from my customers that tryed some themselves... Some programms may work but other could destroy the phone.
-Buy a unlockpackage, complete with guarantee support etc. This is very expensive, especially for people that only have 1 phone, or want to do it for hobby. On this moment a "standalone" T68 unlocker costs 7000$ for 1000 unlocks (cause it needs a original emma2 smartcard too give the bootpass ) For other phones it could be cheaper, Ericsson software is on this moment the most expensive. For info about buying software, and some indications goto http://www.gsmhacking.com
-Go to a local unlocker in your neighberhood. This man should be able too unlock your phone fast, with 100% guarantee for a fair price. Prices for unlocking are 15 ~ 25 dollars. For unlocking the newest phones like the Ericsson T68, he could charge up to double, since investments are high...
-Buy a "'remote unlocking" account. With this service you dont have to pay the high investment on mostly the hardware (only a datacable)
You will pay per phone (per log). There are various logging systems for the most GSM 900/1800 MhZ phones. For newest Ericsson series there is also a logging system, but the developer (Maxfron) from www.gsmhacking.com.ua will ONLY sell minimum 20 logs for 15$ each,..
For now there is NO "free solution" for unlocking these new Ericssons than with a "standalone unlocker" or the "logging solution".
If someone is interested in unlocking their Ericsson in "'small quantity", even 1, I can sell 1 credit accounts, starting new week. For more info email me, or try catching me on ICQ.

I can provide you NSC, NSCK etc. codes for all versions of t68 and t68i for a small fee but you have to show me proof that you legitimately own the phone. I am from the Philippines. I do not do remote unlocking. I do not do stolen phones. Interested parties can get intouch with me at opent68@yahoo.com |
