BT class 1 gives you up to appr. 100 m. rated range while BT class 2 gives you up to appr. 10 m. rated range.

Oh, thats the answer, but its useless because the phone will have to have better range for it to work 100M. Do a search because it had been discussed many time.

Have any firms got plans to implement BT into tv's stereos etc? Could be fun turning your next door neighbours telly and radio on and off

will be good when phones start to use BT1, be much easier to bluejack people as you will have a much bigger range.

Doesn't both ends of a Bluetooth communication, for example a mobile phone and a personal computer, need to be of the same Bluetooth class?
Doesn't either both ends need to be of class 1 or both ends need to be of class 2? Or are the two classes fully compatible with eachother? If so, if one end is of class 1 and one end is of class 2, what is the resulting approximate communicating range?
I haven't read the Bluetooth specification...

You can connect an Class2 to an Class 1 thereīs no problem! But for bluejacking Class 2 is real limitative, with mobiles with Class 1 the fun will be assured!! |

They are compatible. You get the lesser range of the two devices, i.e. 10m . So you are wasting your money on a class 1 unless you have at least two class 1 devices, or you expect to have 2 soon.
Or in the case of Bluejacking, you don't expect to(and can't) receive anything from the other class 2 device.
