u mean the computer file *.dat? I don't think you can 'open' it in any manner. Its a data file which is in coded form for the computer application to use. Why do you want to open that file for? |

A .dat file can be used for anything probably a VCD if its a "video"
Use Window Media Player to open it if it is a video. |

in fact, if it is any piece of media, you can open it in Media player. If it's a partially downloaded application, it won't work...

hehe maybe and he is desperate to open it.
OR ... more likely he is trying to fiddle with a *.dat virus file! I guess he / she is trying to update or modify that file so that he can do something funny with it

a *.dat file could be anything!! As i know Kazaa temp files uses this file format |

I was trying to open a atachment to a mail i got, the commpany i byed my phone of tryed to send me a document.
Instead they sendt me a dat file...
"my porn encrypted in dat files" we are dealing with some of the rearest animals of the woods here guys!

That DAT file could be anything, as for how to open it, that's difficult to say. It could be a media file or a database file, could be anything for all I know. We would need more detailed information to help you Lusipher.
Although, I would request that company to send you the file in another format.
