the IR needs to be turned on for both devices. assuming you've worked the phone out, many laptops ship with the IR turned off by default in the system BIOS. to change this you need to reboot the laptop and look for a message along the lines of "to view setup press f2" or similar. as soon as that message appears repeatedly hit the specified button until the BIOS menu appears. scroll through to the menu to the IR settings change the defualt. once you exit the BIOS menu allow the laptop to continue booting up and acknowledge any prompts which appear. you should then not have any problems so long as the two IR ports are aligned properly.

I don't know much abt IR, but I think its jsut a case of you needing to update drivers, etc.
Why don't you try bluetooth? It works a hell of a lot better and

I used my SE T310, MA-620 IR, WIN XP Pro computer, and my friend's Nokia 6220 to transfer polytones, pictures, etc. But when we used my friend's WIN 98 SE computer, the MA-620 IR wasn't properly communicating with my SE T310 and my friend's Nokia 6220? Why is that? I have properly installed the MA-620 IR software and my friend even installed the Nokia 6220 PC Suite. Actually, the IR icon in the taskbar says that my SE T310 is detected also the Nokia 6220. But when I tried to transfer a file (picture) from the SE T310, there is an error found that the IR is not initialized or something. What is the problem? I need your help. Thanks... |

Try different speeds and various other properties of your MA-620 under device manager. |

Here's another weird thing. I use my MA-620 Ir with my SE T310 to transfer files (pics, tones, games) to and from my pc. My friend asked for some tones for her Nokia 6220. Her Nokia 6220 had an error with some of the midi files. So what we did was to install the Nokia 6220 Data Suite to be able to convert the midi file to sp-midi. When we were finished transfering files to her Nokia 6220, I tried to transfer files to my SE T310. But when I tried it, there was an error message saying that the remote host forced to close or stop the file transfer or something. I tried to uninstall Nokia 6220 Data Suite and tried to reboot. But still the error exist. I even installed the MA-620 software again but to no avail. What had happened? Please help me with this problem. Thanks a lot. |
