I'm in the process of fixing up a Nokia 7650, which at the moment is locked to the Orange UK network. How do I unlock it?

I have a couple of unlocking programs that unlock DCT3/4 phones, including the 7650, and have entered the IMEI number into these programs, got the codes from them, and entered it into the phone. Whenever I finish entering it, the message 'code error' comes up!

I must be doing something wrong, as I've tried more than 5 times and the phone hasn't locked up and told me that the phone's locked or anything.

The code looks something like '#pw+1234567890+7#' just for reference.

Are you generating V2 codes? Are you using only ...+7# or have you tried ...+1# too? Are the net codes right? Try this w w w . un lo cksmith . co.uk (remove the blank spaces)

I've tried v2 and v7 codes (I think v7 codes are right for a 7650 and 3650), and both the +7 and +1 codes with the same result.

I did wonder if someone had already tried unlocking it unsucessfully 5 times so it wouldn't accept any more codes, but surely it would say 'code not accepted', and not 'code error', which it says currently?

@krubach, thanks for the info, will try your link later, am now off to work!

Hooray! Done it!!

Used a different unlocking programme, and used v5 codes, I think I was trying with v2 and v7 codes before.

One other little question - there's a small icon on the standby screen which signifies there's something in the outbox. I go to the outbox, try to delete the message that's in there, but the only options that come up when I press the 'options' button are create message, message details, and exit. How do I delete that message?

Apologies for the Nokia questions!
