Hi,
sorry if this is the wrong forum, I have trouble finding my way around this site, its huge @_@
Okay, heres the problem. My phone is a Sony Ericsson T68i, it's been working fine but then I decided to be clever and order a new case for it off of ebay, i got the tools for it, put on my new case and kept it on for a while and it was fine.
Then, a while later I got another case, changed it then noticed a small rectangular black piece of plastic with a silver strip across it and a few little gold spikes coming out of this. Being extremely un-technical as I am I have no idea what this is or where it goes.
The problem with my phone is that I cannot hear clearing from incoming or outgoing calls and my vibrating alert doesnt work.
Im not sure if theres anything else up with it as I have not tested anything else yet.
My mum's pooped abut it, as am I, I should have quit with the cases while I was ahead, i know!
What I was wondering was if anyone could help me place it back in the right position at all? Also, do you think its possible that my network, if i went to a shop locally, would be able to fix it? Or would they rip me off with pricing like they sometimes do? >__<

Any help, comments would be appreciated. again, sorry if this is the wrong place of I have come off as ignorant.
Thanks,
Novvie

When you mean case you say the front panel or the whole body-housing? Anyway the gold spikes where the contacts for vib motor and buzzer. Move them into the new case and it should be ok Cheers!

It's just the front panel, I wasnt brave enough to mess around with the back!
The problem is, I have no idea where to put it, could you give that in any more detail? I dont want to take it apart and muck it up evenmore >__< (I'm such a novice!) I'm one of those sad little teens that cant live without her phone ^_^

Any ideas as to why the volume has gone down at all? I guess it could just be the case for that...I'll have to try the original back on again to see if the sound improves- I cant seem to find any setting to change the volume you hear when you're in a call.

Thanks so much for the fast reply!

The slide button at the side changes volume. Maybe the case is non original and has small holes and the sound is blocked. What probs you have? Its not clear at 1st post

When I got my phone it was preowned, I didnt have the slide button but i have recently added a new one, I've tried changing volume with that but it doesnt seem to do anything.
Yes, the case is a little different, I'll try the original again.
The main problem is the small piece that was detatched- could you possibly give me an idea of where it should go? Maybe even a step by step guide if it's not too much trouble? ^_^;; I really dont have a clue!

Take out the plastic button. In the tiny hole you will see a slide button, the mechanic switch i mean. Check if the external plastic switch, the external piece is long enough to reach the inside switch. Also check if it has twin ends. Now, the piece that you mentioned and you dont know where to fit it must be the vib motor. It should be rubber with a metal end. It should go at the bottom of the housing. There should be a hole there where it fits exactly. Tell me if i am right

Im not sure if you can see that but those are pictures.
I dont seem to have the switch you described- as i said, it was preowned and didnt come with a button.
I'm still not entirely sure where you mean the vibrator piece to go, do you mean in the front case, back part of the case or the actual front of the phone?
Sorry to be a nuisence.

So you dont have the outside plastic. You cant change vol. The vib should go at the actual body. Nor case nor outside of it. Tell me the photo links to down load 'em. Cant see them trough wap.

Ah! I see!
The part im looking at isnt the motor, thats still in the old case, ive just put it in the new one and it works now, thanks Mixin!
That solves the vibration prob!

Im assuming the part im looking at might be connected with the speaker? the reason i cant hear things loudly? I can hear when i play my ringtones just not when someones talking to me from another phone.

I tried taking a photo of the part earlier but its too small to really get a picture.

Its smaller than the motor, it's black, has a strip of metal across one face and a small white button on the side. It has gold spikes around the edges. Maybe it's the slider for the volume? I'm not sure how to fit it ^_^;;

EDIT: yes, its the volume slider! I can see where it fits but am not sure how to get it to stay in position, i dont want to get it stuck inside the phone either ^_^;;

it's the volume slider, it must be.
I think to fit it, i'd have to remove the back cover, any idea how to do that?
