mini hdd's are more likely in the future say toshiba. they have made a hard disk drive about the size of a pound coin (0.85in) aimed at smartphones etc. 'mini-microdrive' @ 2&4gb. www.toshiba.com (4gb @ $500/£278)

according to this PC world article today, Toshiba has announced it will make these drives before the end of the year and some will find their way into mobile phones. They'll start at 2gb but will reach 15gb and 30gb by the end of the decade

according to this Mobile Pipeline article it seems that these 2gb drives have started shipping now and the 4gb drives will start shipping mid year, so fingers crossed we'll see them in some smartphones soon
