Hi

Not sure where this post should go but anyway...

My T-Mobile contract is up soon and I phoned to cancel because I have had enough of their rubbish. I have a T610 and the agent told me that to use the phone on other networks, I would have to pay T-mobile £15 to unlock it. I told him, "hey after 12 months the phone is mine and legally, you have to unlock it for free". He then tried to chat some rubbish about software (which has nothing to do with unlocking).
I couldnt be bothered to listen to his rubish so I told him i will check my legal rights and get back to them.

So the question... am i assuming correctly? Im sure i remember it from somewhere.

Someone help me out?

Many Thanks

Does he read this forum?

Its not that i want it unlocked for free. What i am asking is do they legally have to unlock it for free? You buy a phone offline, you expect it to be unlocked to all networks. After 12 months, this phone is now mine, so i should not be restricted as i have effectively purchased the phone.

Just want to know whether i'm right or not.
Anybody got any ideas?

Cheers

Pretty sure after you contract is up you should been able to phone up tmobile and ask for the unlock code (to unlock to all networks) They should give you this free as your contract is finished and the phone is yours!

Once you have the code you can unlock it your self (press *<**< select "Network subset" and enter the unlock code)

Have seen this mentioned before on esato (but cant find the thread, well cant be arsed)

when u buy the fone it is locked 2 t-mob, that is the state the phone is originally purchased in, so legally t-mob dont have 2 do nething 4 ya, they have honoured their side of the agreement.
