Simple camera-phone color tests with a Gretag Macbeth ColorChecker DC to examine color fidelity. The Motorola V600 is the winner, with the best overall (muted) color. It’s my opinion that the 3 year old T68i snap on MCA-25 Camera produces a better image than newer Sony Ericsson phones and the Treo600.There was nothing exact in these tests, however all shots were taken under the same conditions, same position and in daylight.

Sony Ericsson T68i
With MCA-25 Camera attachment. (incorrectly shot at medium size). Yellow cast.

Motorola V600
Emailing V600 images to MFOP causes some problems. As far as I can tell, the email is incorrectly base-64 encoded

Sony Ericsson T616
Bad pixelation. Odd image orientation (portrait). Cyan cast.

Handspring Treo600
Wide angle. Poor color. Magenta cast.

Overall the phone images are a mix between awful and lomo-rific. I’m not sure camera-phones are a threat to society until the mega-pixel models reach market saturation. [addsig]
