Using P900 without SIM |

Hi,
Sorry if this question has been posted before. I've searched and found nothing about this.
I just bought a P900 from a friend, problem is, I have to wait until Monday to get a SIM cards from any of the providers around here (Argentina).
So, I was just wondering, is there a way to use the PDA functions of the phone without the SIM card? I'm eager to test this gadget!
So far, when I turn on the device, it says "insert SIM card" and shows a numeric keyboard to enter a code.
Thanks for your help! |

Might work on the P800/P900
To access to the menu in your phone without having a SIM card inside do the following:
type **04*0000*0000*0000#
When display say "Wrong Pin" press 'NO' and you have access to all if not most menus.
Note: if you try this on your phone, the phone may stop responding and you will have to take your battery out to turn the phone on again.

Thanks LordMike, but how safe is it? Worst thing that could happen is to snap off and on the battery? Better to be safe than to be sorry |

I have never tried it, but I think it's a try at your own risk thingy. =)

Well, I tried... I entered the codes by keyboard and by screen and nothing happened. Should I press anything else after the # ? The "Wrong Pin" message doesn't appear.
I guess I'll have to contain myself and wait 'til monday... Not a easy thing to do with that cool stuff on my desktop!
Thanks a lot for your help. |

This is why it's useful to always keep a spare SIM card.
When I got my T300 ages ago it was locked to T-Mobile but I had no T-Mob SIM so I couldn't use it for a week till I could get it unlocked.
Very frustrating!
P.S. the P900 can run a demo of the phone with no SIM card. You don't get to use it at all but it's better than nothing!

And how do you activate that?
Will try out that code tonight, see if it works!

Well I thought it came up as an option on the screen when u have no SIM but it didn't work on mine just now either.
Perhaps u need to have the P900 Demo installed on the phone.
It definately is possible as I have seen it on a brand new one before it had a SIM anywhere near it!

Press # (either once or twice) with no numbers entered in the screen and it will say to open the flip to open the demo program. |
