China is expected to export more than 100 million mobile phones this year, up from 90 million in 2003, according to a recent Global Sources survey of China’s handset producers, according to DigiTimes.
"The largest export market for China-made mobile phones last year was the Asia Pacific region, making up 42% of the exports, Global Sources’ China market analyst Bruce Humes indicated. North America followed with 28%, and Western Europe had 18%.
This year’s predicted export volume of mobile phones from China will consist of 20 million CDMA (code division multiple access) phones, while the remainder will be GSM.
China also produced 6.53 million camera phones for domestic sale last year, while exporting 15 million. This year, the two figures will rise to 11.76 million and 30 million, respectively."
