The problem with converting from different handhelds is memory cards. Why does Sony have to use its proprietary Memory Stick Duo format? Yuck.

I have a 128 MB SD card which I'd like to switch for a Memory Stick Duo of the same size. I reckon I'll have to buy a new one and simply... put away my SD.

Well, of course it's obvious, but it's still bad from my point of view seeing that Secure Digital is the leading solution for flash cards today.

SD is pretty good, high capacity and getting smaller in size, the compatible MMC was originally used in the Ericsson clip-on MP3 player - but as already discussed Sony Memory Stick formats are now the flavour.

i actually think it's a great idea for sony to make duo cards. apart from being compatible with whatever you buy from Sony (other companies use a variety of cards), it's also a very common type, so there are adaptors which let you use duo cards in say compact flash devices. i think it's very good.

The problem I have with Sony MS is that they are just over priced SD cards. Yes, they mean great compatability with other Sony devices but i dont want to buy only sony. I think sony make great phones but I dont like their hi fi systems and still cant get over just how over valued the Viao laptops are. Why they cant just use SD cards like everyone else is beyond me.
