After around 70 bids, an online buyer from Shanghai has paid a total of U$1.1 million for a cell phone number on a auction site. The lucky number, 135 8585 8585 was said to be 'let me be rich, be rich, be rich, be rich' when pronounced in Chinese.
"We have checked our records and confirmed the deal," the newspaper quoted Tang Lei, a public relations manager at EachNet.com, as saying. Tang added that he believed it was the highest price ever paid for a phone number online.
