Alcatel is currently negotiating deals with various companies for a potential sell-out or joint venture of its mobile headset business.
Mr Fouques hinted that a Chinese company has shown interest in buying Alcatel’s mobile handset business. While Mr Fouques refused to confirm or give any details of the financials being negotiated with the Chinese company, sources disclosed that Nanjing Panda Electronics of China was one of the companies, Alcatel was negotiating with. He, however, indicated that Alcatel may fetch up to 600 million euro from the transaction.
