Wap over Bluetooth |

Hi bunch, btw let me micro-introduce myself, I am Venezuelan, been here a few weeks only and trying to become more active on the community, I reached the next era phoneing when a mugger mugged me and stole among other things my trusty old Siemens ME45, so Looking around I found a great deal on a T68 preupgraded to T68i (I love the original look of the T68) and jumped on it, so here I am, and loving every second of it..
My question is possibly not simple (specially considering I use linux and ONLY linux but that is secondary) what I want to know is if it is possible to use wap over bluetooth using my workstation to provide internet connectivity to my phone (I am not scared if I have to install a wap gateway on my system), I ask because the GPRS costs locally are pretty steep and I want to use the fact I work for an ISP to be able to browse via our backbone while I am on the office, so any help is appreciated..
greetings...

hi welcome to Esato..it is possible to use wap on your pc with a bluetooth connection.I use Winwap and Klondike wapbrowser on my pc and a bluetooth dongle is connecting my pc to the phone. While the phone is connected to the wap using a GPRS connection..while BT is installed on your pc,make a new connection en enter: *99***1# als phonenumber to dail (if you want to use CID1 as connection) and than it will work..about running your own wap gateway, i dont think thats needed, you can just use the gateway from your provider, or many others that are availble on the web..

@rencomp
bliss is asking if he can use the PC's internet connection for his phone. you're instructions are meant for connecting to your SP's GPRS service.
@bliss
nope, i don't think it's possible.
too bad about the ME45 (i have one as a backup phone), but then, if it wasn't for that, you wouldn't be here in ESATO. welcome. |
