I could'nt Stop laughing at this one:
A CAR thief was starting a six-year prison sentence last night after stealing 36 vehicles in order to satisfy his compulsion to clean them.

Colin Sadd, 41, steals brand new cars, drives them around for a few hours and then abandons each vehicle in immaculate condition after giving it a full wash and valet service.

Sheffield Crown Court heard how the contract cleaner, who does not own a car, strolls into car dealerships posing as a potential buyer. Offered a test drive, he drives away from the showroom and disappears. The vehicle — spotless inside and out — will later be found at the side of the road with its keys still in the ignition.

Sadd, who targeted garages across Yorkshire and the Midlands, yesterday admitted stealing two Vauxhall Astras, a Rover MGZR, a Ford Mondeo and a Renault Laguna, and asked for 31 similar offences to be taken into consideration.

The court was told that Sadd, who has 155 previous convictions, mostly for stealing cars, began his prolific series of thefts at the age of 11 after spending a troubled childhood in care.

Despite spending much of his adult life in prison, he developed an encyclopaedic knowledge of car marques and specifications, treasuring each of his stolen vehicles as if it was his own property.

The court was told that Sadd, from Sheffield, had been assessed by psychiatrists who concluded that it could take years to cure his compulsive disorder.

Passing sentence, Judge Alan Goldsack told Sadd — described by a previous judge as “the man you would most want to steal your car” — that there was no alternative to a lengthy custodial sentence.

“You gain access to, or help yourself to, keys and drive off in often quite expensive cars,” the judge said. “You do not gain any financial benefit, but having driven them around for a time you dump them with the keys still in.

“It makes you feel worthwhile and you like to give the impression you are a businessman with an expensive car. Clearly those who run businesses selling cars are at very considerable risk from your activities.”

Sadd’s wife, Mary, a 48- year-old nurse, said after the hearing that this brush with the law had brought an end to their 13-year marriage.

She said: “He looked after the cars he stole better than me. He only takes brand new vehicles, drives them around for a couple of hours, then he cleans them inside and out.

“He will even buy a tin of polish to give them an extra sparkle and sometimes takes them to a car wash to get them extra clean.

“He valets them inside and out and leaves them at the roadside with the keys in.”

Mrs Sadd said that her husband had never been able to afford his own car.

“We use a Proton which I drive and my dad bought for £500. Colin cleaned that every couple of days. Any spot of birdmuck and he is out with the sponge. He used to tell me off for smoking in the car.

“He has never hurt anyone and he desperately needs help with his obsession. If he was a paedophile or a mugger they would be falling over backwards to help him, but because he is fascinated with taking cars and cleaning them nobody wants to know.”

sounds like a nutter! if somebody walked past the car and saw that the keys were left in the ignition they would have it away.

Is true what she said though, if he was a peodophile people would break their backs to help him put, but as he steals cars nobody gives a ****.

@buckle247
I am worried about your post, if i walked past a car with the keys left in it, stealing it would be the LAST thing on MY mind.
I think that goes for most people.
Reminder; milk, sugar, crisps, post letter.
