Connecting to the Internet with T68 and a laptop comp. |

Just have a question about the connectionspeed when I connect to the Internet with my T68. I have GPRS-account (NetCom, Norway) and running Win2000. Connected via IR. Why is the connection speed only at 28.8 kB/s? I thought that the speed was a bit faster with GPRS than that... Any suggestions? The connection works fine, so I think the settings is OK, but the speed is a bit too slow... |

The IR-speed is at 115 000 kbs. It's a build-in-IR on my laptop. Pentium III 500, 30 GB HD, Windows2000. Can anyone please help? Thanks! |

The T68 isn't supporting more than 9600! Lower it and it might work! |

there are 2 ways to connect to internet using T68. One is to set the connection (in the dial up connection) as GPRS. You need certain information from your gsm provider for information such as IP address and the gateway. The other one is to use T68 as "modem" and you need to download the T39 driver from ericsson. In this connection, you dial up to your normal ISP provider and the data is transmitted to GSM network with speed of 9.6k. |

The GPRS speed is dictated by your operator. The T68 has one upstream and three downstream channels. If the operator is supporting only 1 or 2 downstream channels, then that's all you will get. I have IrDA connection with GPRS and I get about 43kbps with my operator. Notebook to T68 is 115kbps. |

Hi again.
Well, now i just talked to NetCom (my operator) support, and they couldn't help me either... They told me to ask in a mobilephonestore, and told me that maybe they could help... Is it possible that the connectionspeed is higher than the OS says on the taskbar? When I hold the mouse over the two small monitors when I'm connected it says 28.8 kb/s... I have tried both 9600 kbs and 115 000 kbs-speed on the IR, but it's no use... I still have 28.8 kb/s... More suggestions? The NetCom-support told me that the normal speed on GPRS was about 40-47 kbs, so I hope somebody have some good ideas! Please! Thanks! |
