I have got a secondhand T610, which I am very pleased with!
When I look at the SMS counter, it says that 2,896 texts have been sent from the phone! The phone is about 6 months old I think (says 03w45 on sticker behind battery)
There's no problem with the keypad at the moment, but I am curious as to how many keypresses this membrane will take before problems start to occur. I'm talking, by the way, of the membrane that attaches to the phone's PCB, NOT the plastic and rubber keypad with the numbers etc. printed on.
Same question for the joystick - how many 'nudges' and 'click' will that take before going on the blink?

well i guess it all depends on the unit itself, some t610 may brake at 100 moves and some never
anyway i don't think you can really measure this....
but i think the little sticks are quite good , it's not going to be a problem if you have it for about two years, i guess ....

I have mine for 7 months now and still no problem.Sometimes during games, the joystick misses out 1 move in 50 or so, while in sms, rarely to double-ress. 1 year no problem i think..or even 2 i guess.I try not to keep it more than a year, then replace it with a newer model.

By normal use it should lasts years long, but i think the fones of today arent manufactured on the same quality as in the past. As @701 wrote, he is heading for a new model and the trend is, followed by the brands aswell, to change handset almost every year.

@bobaffet: yes, that was exactly my point. U also have to consider the fact that the production speed up a lot and also the launching of the new products, so they r not interested in u keeping the phone for more than a year and a half. I'll try to get a new K or S 700 in december 2004.

Ta for the feedback
I've actually had my T610 apart, to replace the LCD screen. It looks like the membrane inside can be 'unplugged' from the PCB, and another keyboard membrane 'plugged' back in in it's place, so if anyone's on a budget, and can find the spare parts, a new keyboard can be fitted to it easily! On the other hand, with subsidised/free handsets available either for taking out or renewing a contract, would it be worth it?

My old T68 (i by upgrade) had about 350 000 clicks with the joystick when I sold it still works.

I cannot find any joystick counter on the T610...

@Macjedi - I can't find a joystick counter either! Shame really, don't think there's one on the T610. 350,000 - that's quite an impressive total! My personal best was about 225,000 on a secondhand T68i I had for a little while. Can anyone beat 350,000? Come on everyone, let's hear what your highest joystick count is!!
