The spec of the Xbox 2 - which is looking to have an autumn 2005 release date - is currently under the spot light at many of the games websites. It is now thought that the Xbox 2 will not have a harddrive, like the current 1. It is looking like it will rely on flash cards instead. The full specs are to be released summer 2004. (Info from microsoft magazine)

yeah i heard a few rumours about it not having a hard drive, as microsoft were a bit annoyed at all the modding and subsequently copywrite infringment done on the current xbox.

however they may also be refering to the new "Flash Hard Drives" which are Huge capacity flash drives to replace a harddrive, offering a cooler system and superfast, and I mean superfast data transfer rates. They can be used just like a normal hardrive as far as formatting and what not, but it is beleived that because they are so fast, defragging will no longer be needed. They are already available now for PC's.
