It's deffo not 100% and i've recently encountered some problems... after two years of Ebay activity mind you.
In any case... have a thorough look at the seller's feedback.... if you're worried buy from a 'local' guy and not from somebod way around the world
In case of doubt: don't do it... go by your guts

isnt it possible that a seller could register different aliases and recommend himself? just a thought. |

I've never ordered a phone, however I have gotten some quite expensive items from eBay with no trouble.

He could but to do this he would have to sell an item then buy it with his other name. But when you are buying from a user you can check there feedback and who left it, so if they have a feedback of 10, and they are all from the same user it is suspisus. Also you can check the items that they have bought in the last 90 days, if all the items are around 99p they could have been buying them just to boost feedback at a low price, though after a couple of years buying and selling on Ebay i have never come across this problem and i havn't had any other problems. I have a feedback rating of almost 50 as well, so i have traded quite a few items.
In the past i have bought phones of Ebay though recently i have heard a few bad stories (one mate got a phone, 2 days later the IMEI number was blocked as the phone was stolen, another mate paid but never recived the phone) and probably won't buy a phone of there in the future.
But so long as the user has a good past rating you should have a good time on there, but like said above trust your gut, if it looks dodgy it probably is!

Ebay's pretty safe, you just have to be careful! I've bought phones off there before, and so far (touchwood!) I haven't had a problem yet - just make sure you don't buy a blocked (i.e. lost or stolen) phone - be wary of ones where the auction's for the phone only, and the seller has very little feedback.
Most people on Ebay are honest - much more honest than, say, car boot sales or people selling in the local paper, as their feeback rating's at risk if they rip too many people off - they could also get thrown off Ebay! There are also controls over people falsely recommending themselves or others in the feeback as well.
In brief - go for it! Best go for a seller with a good reputation to start of with as well. |

sounds dodgy mate, why would he sell you 3 for £220 when he could sell them on Ebay for £400 each. ask he to do it through a escrow service where you pick up the cost, and see what his response is.

Yes, I've heard a few horror stories about Western Union - I wouldn't touch that method with a barge pole!! Stick to things like PayPal which give you a certain amount of protection, and avoid Western Union like the Plague!
And another thing - read the descriptions carefully! There are a lot of these 'matrix' or 'pyramid' schemes about where you pay for a link where you can get this high-end £300 phone for 'just' £25 - probably a scam, look for this, generally at the bottom of the item description and often in small letters!! |

Used western union many times, never had any problems with it. Its not cheap, but u have to pay always for the comfort.

i would still recommend an escrow service though for buying 3 phones for £220, if the deal is genuine and you say you will pay for the escrow service there is no reason why he shouldn't want to do it. If he says he doesn't want to use an escrow service then walk away as it isn't worth risking £220. Also where did you get this offer for 3 p900's for £220 is it on ebay? or was it via a PM from a seller?
