Having spoke to Orange, it transpires that there isn't a way to turn the message validity off on the T68m - it will ask for it every time. Orange chappie was unable to say whether or not the upgrade would rectify this.

Of course there is.

Just go to messages, settings, SMS, message validity, and set on send to off, and the standard setting to whatever you want it to be.

I translated this from Norwegian, so I might be off on the names. Read the manual, it's all there.
