I think Bluetooth is a bit hyped up. Look at the current Bluetooth headsets, they cost almost as much as the phones, they're nearly as big the phones and they look stupid (except the bluespoon )! I mean what is the point of that!
I do think it is good for connecting phones to a computer though - it is a real hassle lining up my T68 with Irda port on my laptop. With Bluetooth I can sync my phone while still in the pocket.

when more periphials become bt compatible, it will be better. Right now Epson makes a bt printer, but taht is about it. It will be really cool when there are bt scanner, faxes, Zip, Jaz drives, DVD RW drives, etc. The technology is slow to catch on, but we can help by buying products like car kits and head phones. Also bluetooth is potentially mcuh less harmful to your brain than high power radio waves that phones emit |

When Ericsson first created BT, their vision was that every consumer electronics should have a BT chip since BT is used foremost for wireless communication between devices. Only then, can we truly achieve wirelessly connected homes and offices. So, BT as a technology is not overhyped, though its greatness wouldn't be shown until the chip prices go down. The only negative side is the medical concern for radiation.
