Do you feel it will compete with Bluetooth?

yeah but the bluetooth also have a mike i think. Also this could be the poor man's bluetooth & may compete with other costly gadgets because most people (as of now) still don't have bluetooth enabled mobiles. Well I guess its just my view

I thought it still had a mic popping out - well that was what Jan said in one of the earlier posts. The BT just makes it wireless. I think the later versions of BT will pick up voice using jaw vibrations... but they are still some time away. I hope others who know more can pitch in.

why should you have a mic on the phone when you're using bluetooth?!

the headset sends the "sound" to the bluetooth thingy in the phone... that's the whole idea... else it would be worthless... almost...

BT is way out of league for IR. I think the only reason we still see them on phones is that they're just too common in many devices. BT will eventually be as common as IR - until something new comes up.

Regarding the Bluespoon:

when it first comes out it will have an external (but still small) mic, a jawbone mic version will come out later. However, don't confuse external mic with the phone mic as some posters have.

the Jaw mic will not be visible. It will be inside the Bluespoon. It picks up vibrations from the jaw when a person speaks but it will also have other noise reducing software to get the best voice. It will be costlier though but the best part is that the Bluespoon can then become really small and so it can fit snugly into the ear.
