no i think there's like 5 of us from the U.S. my vote goes to satalite phones as well. Alaska should have 1900, 850, and 900, depending on which carriers are there since it is part of the U.S., but Alaska has alot of uninhabited territory that i don't think they will waste the money on with towers.

Alaska wouldn't have the 900 band.

EDGE? I highly doubt it. They wouldn't spend money on putting something up there, when barely anyone, if anyone at all, are going to use it!!!

Dude, CDMA is faster than normal GSM, that's why they implemented EDGE. But EDGE is not CDMA.

i know, but it's 3g speed. over here, sprint is claiming to have the same thing. i was talking to a tech guru friend and he said that sprint claims it's 3g. although, it's the same as the link i posted; cdma with 3g speed.

i have a se t610 and was recently in alaska and had fairly good coverage in anchorage, but only in anchorage.. there didn't seem to be coverage anywhere else. being that the phone is gsm 1900, 1800, and 900 i can only assume that yes, to a limited extent, there is gsm 1900 coverage in alaska. an interesting note: the service provider was "US 430" whatever that means.
