Most likely it will not help by upgrading the software. Network problems are very common on T39. You'll have to leave it to a servicepoint, and you'll have it replaced with a swap unit.

Sorry, I believe your phone is affected by the infamous "NO NETWORK" problem. Mine Icecap blue T39m had the same problem and was eventually replaced by SE// with a brand new unit of the same color. I sold it and bought a T68i afterwards. So it turned out well for me. Hope you can get the issue resolved soon.

When i first bought this phone..that no problem with the network and the reception even better after I upgarde the software to R3b but only found out lately about this situation. Do I get to change a new T39 after almost used it for abou 8 months.

in rare cases the replacement unit is a new one... but then we are talking really rare cases... most of the time the phone is replaced by a reconditioned phone, which looks as new as the phones you buy in a shop

I have this week 9, 2002 T39 with R4A008. It keeps crashing when i browse esato logos or other graphics intensive sites. I could surf textonly sites all day without crashing though. Do you think i should try downgrading to R3B?

Aikonoklast, I had the same problem with my T39, R3B 02w09. I contacted SE and they told me to master reset my phone, then go to the SE website and have the WAP settings SMS'd to me. After doing this my phone seems great. No problems since.
