Battery life on T68i |

Hi guys,
i recently bought my t68i and the initial shock of 'Give me my 8310 back' wore off quite quickly- surprisingly.
The phone itself is great- still getting used to a few things but i am impressed with it enough to say that Nokia have some catching up to do- and for me to say that is surprising!
Anyway- the one true annoying thing is battery life- i have never got anywhere NEAR 300 hours standby time- the truth of the matter is- i'm lucky to get 48 hours. I never wait for full discharge before recharging (not sure if I'm meant to) - has anyone else got even 4 days of standby out of this phone? if so- what do i need to do to make my phone last a bit longer? (Going on holiday and dont want to take my charger!!)

few weeks later i find myself charging my phone every four days
I always discharge my phone right to the end |

Alright Geezerrrrrrrr!!!
Right... let the battery run down so it warns you of low battery power. Then switch it on/off a few times just to drain it as mch as possible. THEN charge it up fully, without taking the charger out. You have to remember that if your phone is new, then itll take quite a few charges like this til it reaches its peak performace. I normally charge my phone every 3 or 4 days - and I do use the phone quite a bit too, leavin it switched on 24/7. I also find that the battery seems to drain quite a bit if u switch it on/off all the time too.. ie like at night/morning etc etc..
So a recap then.... let the battery drain, the fully charge it. Do this about once a fortnight to keep max performance. They say (who???) that you shouldnt drain it fully EVERY charge, then then again, that was a few years ago, dont know if its any better now or not.
Try that matey...

It's sometimes really hard to fully
use up all the power before Charging
except you have more than 1 battary.

If you're not using GPRS then try going to the CONNECT options and making it GSM ONLY! I did this and my battery life suddenly improved the next time I charged it.... I had the same problem in the beginning with my phones!!!

What seriously affects the battery performance is that people don't usually charge upto 16 hours when they charge it the very first time they buy the phone. Almost the manuals insist that we charge it a full 16 hours - despite the phone showing that it is fully charged.
I believe that the present day batteries don't have the 'memory' problem and therefore one doesn't need to discharge it fully always but it does help so that the batteries chemicals are used fully.
Don't expose the battery to sunlight or other sources of heat because ion batteries which have 'ion' in them tend to lose power when heated.
Finally make sure you have not turned on certain things that you don't need like GPRS, Infrared etc...
ps: there is another question regarding battery maintenance in the forum. Search for it. |

Ive been in the CONNECT menu and cannot see the option to turn off GPRS mode. HELPPPP!!!
Great ideas guys.. im sure that my battery will be even better now!
Yes i agree with you there Maltesh (clever bloke) that most people do NOT fully charge their phones for the requested 16 hours - this is an ideal thing to do and in the long run, will benefit you by peak performance. Coupled with every fortnight letting the power run down all the way and then give it a full charge again.
Happy charging guys.
Oh.. and anyone know how exactly to turn off the GPRS option??

@Bazboy
Into the connect menu, go to 5 (“com. data” in french…) then 2 (“service préféré” in french…) and here you should have the choice between “GPRS and GSM” or “GSM only”…
And by the way, with my T68 m (HW 01W39), I did not charge my battery 16 hours the first time… and now, after six month of normal usage, I still have more than 350 hours of standby after a full charge !!!

I think the brand new battery out of the box came partially charged. Should it be used up before the initial charge, or should it left to charge right away?? I always leave new batteries to charge for a whole day, just to be safe. Hard to resist the temptations though.
I have used my battery in another T68i and it showed more standby hours, but less talk time. Mine is R2A014, the other one has the R2B025. Anyway, in either one of them, I don't think the timer is a good indicator of the usage. I think it goes down much faster than my old T39m. I get about the same amount of hours on T68i and T39m, but T39m lasted longer, and the indicator don't decrease as fast. I am sure that T68i drains battery faster, but when they both say 300 hours, shouldn't they last about the same time?? *_* |

When I bought by T68i I got told to use up the battery before charging it for 10-12 hr's he first time since as you say the battery
comes with some charge in it from the start.
I still don't get ppl's obsession about the estimated stand-by/talk time meter. Just use the phone and compare it to other phones you used in the same manner in the same location.
My T68i get about same standby time as my previous Nokia 8210 with a 800mA battery but the talk-time is far far better.
So far I never had my T68i shut off in the middle of a call but on the 8210 it happened all the times very annoying that was. So I'm very happy with T68i's battery
Hopefully there will be a brakethrough in battery technology that enables small phones under 100g have alot more stand-by/talk-time.
