SMS Encryption through T9 |

Hi,
Today I thought of a neat trick if you want to send secret SMS:es to somebody:
1) Put your phone on some foreign language (I usually use Finnish, which is pretty different)
2) Write your message in you own language (English)
3) send your message.
4) When you get an encrypted message, you select "forward message" so that you can edit your message. Then you put the cursor after the message, and select English as language. Now you just type the letters of the encrypted message and out comes English!
Example: (English is "my" language, Finnish the encrypted language).
type: "This is a secret message that you should not be able to read".
out comes: "Vihr hs a amfee message uhat yöt sinule oot cd bale to read."
Select English again and type:
"Vihr hs a amfee message uhat yöt sinule oot cd bale to read."
out comes:
"This is a coded message that you should not be able to read".
This encryption is by no means perfect; in the message above, the words "message", "to" and "read" was mapped to the same words. Also, when writing "should" you get a prompt saying that "word does not exist in dictionary" after having typed "s-h-o-u-l". That can be fixed by just doing joystick right and continue to type "d". What is worse is that sometimes we dont want the first word in the dictionary. For instance, if we want to write:
"If you are here"
it becomes, in Finnish,
"He tot ase here"
And after going back to English it becomes
"He you are here"
Most often, it is still possible to understand what is meant (after all, people forget to select the correct word when writing normal SMS:es all the time). If you want to be clear, you can add a number afterwards indicating which word you mean. Thus you type
"He2 tot ase here" to indicate that it is the second English word in the list you want.
Have fun! |
