Are you using floAt's Mobile Agent?
Are you having trouble with sending files to the phone or doesn't your program detect your phone?

Try this..

First have nothing connected follow the instructions below you will connect the cable and the phone last.

*In the phone monitor options make sure the port you are using is enabled and not reserved and that your phone is listed.

* In phone and modem in control panel make sure your regular modem dosnt use com 3 mine does and thats why I had to use com2. Also if you installed sony dial up networking the cel will show there too as another modem(dont worry about that now). plug in cable and look
* In device manager make sure it actually says prolific usb serial cable and theres no yellow tag or you need to reinstall the drivers again and that it matches the other com-port settings. Now make sure that you use the same usb port to plug it in to.

Then go to floats mobile agent window see if you are showing version 31c if not go to help and check for udates.

Then go into options/communications/ disable IRMCsync and obex

Then go to options/connect/ and set to 9800 baud

Restart everything and try to connect you may not get all info from phone but you should be able to send to phone now

you get the Prolific thing only if you use a USB cable. With a serial cable, you won't see anything under device manager.

Problem with T200/300 series phones and cable is always because of the 9600 COM port speed, which is not documented.

You seem to have a major HO about my posts. You need to read the whole thread and make sure your info is correct you are making an A** out of yourself.

If you go to SE site you will find that both OEM cables include a charging port so they are capable of charging.

A DCU is a usb cable so if they say dcu then its usb get it?

You said that a serial cable wont show in device manager well your wrong. When drivers are installed it will show in device manager what do you think device manager is for?? If it dosnt show then its obvious they need the drivers and isnt that a good place to start?

And I was posting about the 9800 baud long before you were, once again read before you post... and again spending most of my life in tech support and programming I learned that when you arent there to see what theyre doing you have to start from the begining that way when it gets to the troubleshooting part you know you are on the same page. And since it takes up space and posts its better to get it out in one shot whether they need all the info at once or not.

And the icing on the cake you said that you dont need MPM to use fma well that isnt true I refer you to this info.... This program is necessary for the rest of them to work
Mobile Phone Monitor Version R2A
Valid and necessary for all phones except the P800/P900

No program will work if you don't install this before. Moblile Phone Monitor will be always on alert of the connected (with cable, infrared or bluetooth) and the programs will "ask" Mobile Phone Moniter if there is any connected. NOTE: Sony Ericsson Communications Suite (see below) includes and installs Mobile Phone Monitor. This from the unnoficial Club Sony.

- All SE original cables do not charge by itself. A phone charger (such as CTR-10, CLA-10)is needed to plug into the charging port of the cable to charge the phone. If no charger is attached, there isn't even a connection to the charging pins. Therefore it is ludicrous to suggest that "a cable is working when you see the phone is being charged".

- All serial RS232 cables(such as DRS-11 and after market ones) do not require a driver, don't come with a driver, and will not show up under device manager. These cables plug into a 9-pin COM port at the back of a computer.

- The correct COM port speed is 9600 (not 9800). As I always said, it was never documented in "offcial SE documentation". This information regarding the com port speed was posted on this forum by myself as early as 2003-05-15

- All SE software, and Christersson's Sendfile/phonebackup/... requires Mobile Phone Monitor installed for them to work. Mr. Christersson was(is?) an Ericsson employee and wrote his programs based on Ericsson development platform.

Float's Mobile Agent, on the other hand, is not SE software, and do not require Mobile Phone Monitor.
