In our country, you cant downgrade your subscription plan for al least a year when you buy the promo phones, or you can pay the subsidized cost absorbed by your SP before the 1 year minimum contract

You'll have to stick with the £28 per month for however long the contract is, this is how phone companies earn commision. They get a small chuck of the monthly fee.
Once the contract is up you can swith to any monthly contract you want. Try shopping around more, I once saw a T68 being given away on T-Mobile free provided you choose one of the more expensive contracts. |

just ring another shop and ask what the minimum term for the current tariff is...most likely you can take out the higher contract and then switch to the lower one...the sp can tell you this in more detail as once you've bought the phone they're the ones you'll be dealing with not the shop. |

well we don't have that kind of contracts here!!
u do buy the phone seperatly. and then u can get a prepaid card or u can be a normal user... u pay 25$ as for subscription and u pay for the services u choose then u'll be paying the tarifs for mn u use or sms u send that's pretty expensive |

In the uk, you can downgrade after 1 month regardess what the salesmen say. but only on vodafone, o2, t-mobile and orange! Dealers get money clawed back if their customers downgrade tarrifs within 3 months of connection.
E.g orange evertime 400 - Commissions = 350GBP
o range talk 60 - Commissions = 240GBP
If customer downgraded from 400 to 60 within 90 days of connection, dealers loses 350 - 240 GBP = 110GBP!!! Money flows back to the network.
You can see why dealers and salesmen alike will ensure the customers accept inability of downgrading within 90 days. Upgrading customers within 90 days do not effect the dealers' commissions. |

I bought a T68 on T mobile for free (special deal at easter) with a £16 a month contract
Within a month i phoned up and changed to Freetime 750 ie £13.99 a month
I know this is a small difference in money but nothin was said when i changed it, so i guess you could get away with changin ur tariff straight away. |

I have brought a T68 from London on Orange network since I am in London a lot. I brought it from Phones4u on Oxford street. I bought it on a monthly contract of £25 and the next week I changed the tariff by calling up Orange to a £15 a month contract. No questions were asked and I have not been charged either by Orange or Phones4u any additional fee.
Therefore I guess it is very much possible for you to change tariff because Orange gives you the right to change tariffs anytime you like or you can carry the same tariff from any other network to orange with same benefits that you got from other networks. |

Hi,
I bought a T68i from CarPhoneWareHouse last week for FREE on T-Mobile Anytime 60 (£16/month). I called CarPhone and asked when I could downgrade my tariff. They said after 3 months. However, yesterday I called directly to T-Mobile to downgrade my tariff and they agreed (they allowed me to change in the next 2-week time ;)). Wow, I don't know whether anybody here has experience on this? I am really worried that they will fine me if I change the tariff earlier than 3 months.
Anyone here has done this without any pernalty (I mean you have finished your 12-month contract without any pernalty, though you did downgrade earlier than 3 months)? Would you mind sharing your experience?
Cheers,
SVKHTN

I think it depends on the small print of your contract but the 3 month time frame is about right.....
If you sign up on a heavily subsidised phone then you will prob have to sit it out for 90 days - as the 'shop' who sold you the phone might have it in the T&C that you pay back the difference.
anyways 90 days @ £28 its only £65 more so youre still saving money?
