Having checked the K700 Whitepapers it seems pretty sure, SE stripped the mophun gaming engine support from their future phones.

SE was the only prominent handset manufacturer to support mophun. So does this move mean the end for mophun?

What do you think?

Personally I don't think it's a major loss.

Sorry hymie, I just couldīnt resist.

Personally I never cared much for Mophun, so I dont think the loss is to great!

There will still be a number of mophun enabled phones in use because not the whole worls population will immediately jump at the new phones.

In the long run though this will not do mophun any good.

They will need to expand their platform and functions and market heavily... or die

@vlammetje: Yeah, of course there are still going to be tons of existing mophun-enabled phones to be soldl (just think of all those pretty new Z600's and T630's). But the game developers will now stop producing further mophun titles instantly. Just my quick guess.

cheers,
hymie

Maybe SE will only support mophun in the low-end phones like t230, t310 and their sucessors...

Personally, I care much more about the phone-makers making a universal standard for Java on mobiles (Which, in its turn will result to cross-platform Java programs & games), then I care about SE supporting Mophun in the same way they did with the 'simpler' phones!...

PS. I few weeks ago I red that they are already in such a process, and in the near feature we'll see some real results... Can't wait!...

Mophun, hmmm.... what can I say. Having used T300 for a couple of months, I really enjoy the platform.

But you buy a game and then upgrade your phone, the game which you bought cannot be installed on your upgraded phone sucks big time. I once purchased 2 mophun games when I was using the T300. When I later came to a cross-road to choose between a T610 and a P800, I was badly turned off by the fact that the 2 games which I purchased can't be installed on a new T610. I had emailed mophun.com to enquire about it but never receive any response. That was 1 main reason I choose the big P over the smaller T... at least I know for sure that the ExtremeBubble game which I bot for my P800 last yr can last me thru my next P900 upgrade...

Too stringent and strict for my liking... this mophun thingee. For java, I don't think you go through such shit...

I won't miss mophun either. I think that their policy wasn't good. But I will miss on mophun one thing: they are faster then java and more stable.
