I've been wondering for a couple of weeks if it wouldnt be possible to make a program that simulates for example a terminator dongle. Cause the technology used in these dongles can't be impossible for a computer to imitate. Then beeing able to flash a SE phone using div or any other program with a T28 cable.
What I don't understand is why there have to be a dongle in first place, does it calculate some codes or provide some extra power to the cable? Well, i dont think it's the last one though it's possible to remote unlock the phones with just a t28 cable and a internet connection. Or is the dongle just there to provide some sort of security for the companies so the programs "can't" be copied?

Thanks in advance

The dongle is a copy protection device, so that you must buy the dongle to use the software.

Remote unlocking is a term that gets thrown around way too liberally! You cannot remote unlock SONY Ericsson's. Only Nokia's can be remotely unlocked. Remote unlocking refers to not having to connect your phone in any way to your PC.

I beg to differ. The plain definition of "Remote" and "Unlock" clearly include the unlock by LOG method, since the server that actually calculates the lock code is NOT your computer, but some server in Thailand/US/UK.

Eh, that is also the definition, but the true concept of a remote unlock is the way Nokia's do it. Cheers to you, though for bringing that point up!
