firmware question

There are different kinds of that firmware out there, for example: EMEA6, EMEA2, EMEA3, AP2, EU4, EU1, etc. What do those things mean? I am in the United States, so I want American (English) firmware. Can anyone help me with that? And maybe even can tell me where to download it as well? Thanks in advance,
