FMA connection drains battery |

Hi there!
I use FMA from time to time and like the features alot. However, to use it fully it needs to be connected via bluetooth all the time. This seems to drain my phone of power quite fast? Anyone with similar or different experience?

That's not a problem from fMA.
It's the bluetooth that's draining your battery...

Yes, of course I realize it's not something FMA specific  . My question was more along the lines if people think this is annoying and how much power consumption is increased.
I'd like a faster non-connected mode where you can send an SMS for instance and have FMA connect, send the SMS and the disconnect as quickly as possible...

But how the heck would fMA comunicate with the phone to tell him to turn on bluetooth if the phone's BT is not on?!?!?!?!

No, you misunderstand.
I have BT on the phone enabled; this drains very little extra power. However, when FMA is connected it has a constant connection to the phone (BT active - the BT symbol on the phone showing two filled-in triangles). This connection seems to drain the battery quite rapidly.
Of course, with a disconnected mode all actions would have to be initiated from the computer, so there would be no call monitoring and such. But sending should be quite possible...

you can actually type up your text first and then connect to send... but tbh why would you? I'm not too bothered by battery drainage 
Then again, I'm quite happy to have things finally work

The two filled triangles mean that you have a BT serial port connected.
I don't know if fMA can connect/disconnect the serial port by itself, or if he needs you to connect the port yourself.
Hell... I can't even get fMA to work with my phone... 
So i can't give you any tips. Maybe float is reading this thread and implements this on the next release.

Yeah I know, I'd just like it to be a little faster and a little more automatic. Has anybody gotten the "native" BT connection working or does everybody use the emulated serial port?

Exactly why I say cable is good. No battery drain it charges it. If you can get this far you can find a cable with drivers. I have no trouble with the cable You can send and recieve with cable. I have seen several posts with mis info about cable from bt users. Is bt a status symbol hmmm. I cant imagine being more adept at somthing ie. cable than those who have been her for ever. |
