Transparency is not possible. Even if you use a transparent gif the phone will colour the bar. It does not allow and for of transparency

but there are themes - and also the example themes in creator pro where the softkeys are transparent - so you get to see the picture all over the screne - just cant figure out how they did that.
and right now i have a theme on my phone with trasparent softkeys too.no idea what software they used to make that.

nonono, they made a 'basis working image' of 128*160 which is full screen size

they then 'cut' the statusbar and softkeys out of that image

I can get you an example pic that i have on my PC at home tonight if you like, with guidelines on where to cut and such

oki - thanx - working on te softkeys right now - do i have to cut softkys out of a given theme and put them over mine? if so can i make the saturation smlaler than 80 % so that you really cant see the buttons anymore or do the letters have to be visible?

I see i am a bit late

Anway... in case you were wondering what is where on your image

The letters do not have ot be included in your picture at all really. they are part of the FIRMWARE of the phone and not of the theme as such.

You CAN choose to layer a 'softkeys-image' over the partition of your picture, or create a new image, or just leave it ONLY the piece of your picture. Whatever you think looks best
